My concept with this lamp was to design something that focused on line to create form. I was building a 3-dimensional structure using elements that are very lightweight and thin. This gives the lamp a very visceral presence, accentuated by the linen cloth that diffuses the light into waves.

Inspired by the form of a hyperbolic parabola which has been translated into 3 dimensions, it gives the lamp a mathematical precision that also feels abstract. The distinctive support also distributes weight well, allowing it to potentially serve as a base for a more complicated structure above it.
